Unwrap Christmas with Aubrey Logan’s New Album

It has been a bit of a tradition that Aubrey Logan celebrates the festive season with a gift of Yuletide classics for her fans. This time she places under the tree a collection of 12 songs aptly titled Christmas. A reimagining of standards in her own inimitable style, Aubrey transcends the mistletoe and wine through a combination of Jazz, Pop, and everything in between.

No stranger to British shores, she has graced the stage at The Roundhouse, The O2 arena as well as the homeland of UK Jazz Ronnie Scotts. Her pedigree is therefore undisputed. After several number one albums and working alongside icons such as Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Josh Groban, Smokey Robinson, Patrice Rushen and Pharrell Williams, Aubrey has always felt compelled to honour those that have preceded her with a respect that the material deserves.

From the rambunctious opening of Sleigh Ride with tempo changes and a glorious scat vocal, to the soulful jazz laments of This is How It Ends and Blue Christmas, she switches through the gears with consummate ease. Moving onwards and upwards to Carol of the Bells featuring her incredible trombone playing, Aubrey’s album will melt the Winter snow leaving a verdant blanket of musical

gems behind. The intelligence and breadth of the album means that it has something for everyone. Santa’s Got a Brand New Bag has elements of the Mussel Shoals studio back in the day when the great session musicians of yester year were on fire. Whilst O Holy Night and Silent Night will send you into a state of bliss and contentment as the days wind down.
